– Appoints MC Oluomo as Acting Zone-2 Chair
National Union of road transport workers, Nurtw has appealed to Osun, Ondo and Oyo state governments to lift ban on the activities of the union in their states, to allow a seamless representation of southwest states at its National convention.
The appeal came to fore at the National delegate conference, held at the zonal secretariat of the union in Osogbo.
Ex-National treasurer of the Union, Nasiru komolafe, who presided over the congress said that due to the inactivity of three out of six councils in the southwest, the congress resolved to postpone the national delegate conference to 19th of october this year with expectations that councils in osun, Ondo and Oyo state would have been reinstated.
The congress also upheld the nomination of Lagos State chairman, Musiliu Akinsanya, also known as Mc Oluomo as the acting zonal chairman of the union pending a proper election in the position.
The acting National President, Tajudeen Agbede noted that it is time to chart a new course towards a bright future of the Union by electing visionary people who will make the Union in the zone and Nigeria greater.
Representatives of the Nigerian police, Department of State service and federal road safety commission at the event appealed to drivers to ensure more caution on the road especially in this ember month.
The Nurtw National delegate conference holds once every four years to nominate zonal delegate that will represent every of the six zones At the national convention slated for 25th of October 2023.
