The Osun State Government on Saturday dismissed a report purporting that it would add N25,000 each to the monthly salaries of civil servants in the state as an allowance to cushion the effects of petrol subsidy removal.
The government declared that the report in question was the handiwork of some mischievous elements bent on creating a wedge between the administration and its loyal workforce.
An unsigned message circulating on social media claimed workers in the state would receive their November salary on November 27 alongside N25,000 being an allowance from the state government.
A statement signed by the state Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr. Kolapo Alimi, urged the public to disregard the message.
He said the government was still in the process of arriving at an appropriate way to support workers.
The statement read partly, “The attention of the Osun State Government has been drawn to the purported N25,000 allowance to workers in November currently in circulation. The administration of Senator Ademola Adeleke is therefore using this medium to assure the public, particularly civil servants, that the post in question is the handiwork of some mischievous elements bent on creating a wedge between a worker-friendly administration of Senator Ademola Adeleke and its loyal workforce.
“To this end, the state government is also using this avenue to assure and reassure its teeming workforce of its avowed commitment to their welfare in line with the economic realities. It is worth noting to recall that the state government under the current administration implemented the financial implication of promotion for civil servants granted as far back as 2019.
