It’s a total lockdown of vehicular movement on the main campus of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife early Monday morning, 18th day of march 2024.
The development forced students, staffers and members of the University community to walk for four kilometers from the campus gate to the main campus.
Leading, the protest, senior staffs association of universities, SSANU said the protest is against the federal government perceived neglect for the union.
He said the recent payment of four months backlog of salaries to only the academic staff union of university, ASUU, is a sentiment and attempt to undermine the relevance of the union to the ivory tower.
SSANU Chairman, comrade Taiwo Arobadi said the protest will be accompanied with a seven days warning strike to press home their demands.
However, Students of the OAU Staff school, gardener, traders, among others were given entrance to the university while all offices remained shut.
